Privacy Policy

This policy describes the information collected during a visit to Sutton County Criminal History, why it is used, and the limited circumstances in which another party may receive it. By continuing to use this website, you acknowledge the practices stated below.

Data You Give Us Directly

Search Queries

A name or location entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. We do not retain or log those search terms on our systems.

Messages and Contact Submissions

We retain an email or other direct message as needed to respond. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by law.

Data We Gather Automatically

When a page loads, the server automatically receives certain technical details about the visit:

  • The date and time of each page request
  • Your device's assigned IP address
  • The referring website, when one is reported
  • Your browser type and version
  • The device category and operating system
  • Pages viewed and the time spent on them

Cookies and Analytics

This website uses cookies, which are small files saved on a visitor's device. They help show aggregate patterns such as frequently visited pages and where sessions end. Analytics providers assist with compiling that traffic information. Cookies can be blocked through browser settings, although doing so may change how some site functions behave.

What We Do With This Data

  • Diagnosing errors and other technical problems
  • Operating the website and maintaining reasonable load times
  • Directing a submitted query to the selected search provider
  • Understanding which pages are useful or need improvement
  • Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests

No Criminal-Record Data on File

Sutton County Criminal History does not keep, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It publishes general directions to the Sutton County Sheriff's Office and jail, the combined County and District Clerk, the Texas Department of Public Safety Crime Records Division, and the Texas Public Sex Offender Registry. This site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor information is not compiled into consumer reports or third-party criminal-record profiles.

Third-Party Search Partners

Outside companies operate the search boxes found on this site. Information entered there is governed by the selected provider's privacy policy rather than this policy. We do not control a provider's retention, use, or disclosure practices, so review its terms before sending a query.

Links to Other Websites

Links may lead to Sutton County offices, Texas agencies, court portals, legal resources, or outside search services. After leaving this website, the destination's own privacy rules apply. Read those rules before providing personal information.

Advertising companies may use their own systems to follow activity across websites and select interest-based ads. We do not operate that tracking.

Who Might See Your Data

We do not sell personal information. Data may nevertheless be available to:

  • Analytics providers that measure site traffic and performance
  • Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal demand
  • Advertising networks that serve ads on these pages
  • Search providers that process queries submitted through their tools

How We Protect Your Data

Reasonable, standard safeguards are used for information we collect. No internet-connected system is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee that a breach will never occur.

Users Under 18

This website is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that a minor supplied such data, we will delete it.

Your Data Rights

Rights can differ based on where a visitor lives. Texas Government Code Chapter 552, known as the Texas Public Information Act, governs access to records held by Texas government bodies, while Government Code Chapter 411 controls dissemination of criminal-history record information. Those laws do not turn this private site into a government records custodian. Subject to applicable law, you may:

  • Object to certain forms of processing
  • Request deletion of information about you
  • Ask for access to personal information we retain about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate information

Updates to This Policy

This policy may be revised. Any revision will appear on this page with a new effective date, so visitors should review it periodically for changes.
